Women's Soccer Downs Raritan Valley 5-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's Soccer team picked up their second win of the season, downing Raritan Valley Community College, 5-1, on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field. 

Laura Sarria (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) scored 3 goals and had 1 assist, giving her 10 goals and 4 assists for the season, while Natalie Tuffy (Scott Township, Pa /Lakeland) and Miranda Youngkin (Easton, PA /Easton) each added a goal for the Spartans. Sarria's 10 goals are tied for 11th best in the country in NJCAA Division III  soccer. 

"We finally decided to take shots today," quipped Head Coach Scott Cullen, "and good things happened ... I thought it was an all around good team effort that we can build on heading into next week's matchup with Bergen"

Christina Sheetz (Bethlehem, PA /Freedom) and Alexa Korinchak (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley ) each played a half in goal, with Sheetz making 4 saves and Korinchak 2, as Northampton outshot the Golden Lions, 26 to 7.

The victory moves Northampton to 2-5-0, while Raritan Valley falls to 1-5-0.

The Spartans are off this weekend and then host Bergen on Tuesday September 29th at 3:30pm.
