EDISON, NJ - The Northampton women's soccer team dropped their season opener on Thursday, falling to the Colts of Middlesex County College, 7-1.

Laura Sarria (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) scored Northampton's lone goal and Christina Sheetz (Bethlehem, PA /Freedom) recorded 15 saves in goal to lead the Spartans. "We suffered some defensive lapses," remarked 2nd year Head Coach Scott Cullen, "Overall I saw some positive things today, but we need to shore up a few areas if we want to compete with the better teams in the Region."

Middlesex improves to 1-0-0 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 0-1-0.

Northampton returns to action on September 8th when they travel to 2-time defending national champion Brookdale Community College.
