SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - Coming off a 3-3 weekend at the Tournament of Champions, the Northampton women's volleyball team felt they had something to prove, unfortunately for Lehigh Carbon, they became the proving ground. The Spartans opened Region XIX play with a dominating 3-0 victory (25-9, 25-6, 25-5), as Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South ) recorded 9 kills and Anona Bauman (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) notched 25 assists and 6 service aces.

"I was curious to see how we would react after this weekend," stated Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "we have a young group, but they came out tonight ready to play ... they realize that teams are not just going to hand them the Region title."

Bridget Lozier (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley ) had 8 kills and 4 digs, Rachael Caywood (Bath, PA/Nazareth ) had 4 kills and 4 digs, Kalli Walling (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded 6 digs and 6 aces and Megan Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) added 5 digs for Northampton.

The Spartans, now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX, return to action on Saturday when they travel to Manor College for a tri-match with the host Blue Jays and Luzerne County Community College.
