BLACKWOOD, NJ - The Northamton women's soccer team dropped a Region XIX contest on Saturday, falling to Camden County College, 5-2.
The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and added a 4th goal after the intermission to take a 4-0 lead before
Abby Dempsey (Bangor, PA /Faith Christian ) scored for the Spartans to cut the margin to 4-1 with 20 mintues remaining.
Laura Sarria (Easton, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) added a tally in the 89th minute off an assist from
Judea Cardwell (Easton, PA /Easton ), who had 2 assists on the day. "We just got off to a very slow start," lamented Head Coach
Scott Cullen, "Camden is a very solid team and we made it very difficult on ourselves falling behind 3-0 in the first half."
Melissa Schnaupauf recorded 9 saves and Dempsey had 5 shots for Northampton.
The Spartans, now 1-2-0, return to action on Tuesday September 13th when they host Bucks County Community College at 3:30pm.
Camden improves to 1-2-0 with the victory.
