BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's team earned their first victory of the 2016 season, dowing Lackawanna College 7-0, in their home opener on Saturday afternoon. 

Laura Sarria (Easton, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) scored 3 goals and had 1 assist and Judea Cardwell (Easton, PA /Easton ) had a goal and 2 assists as the Spartans opened up a 6-0 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. Olivia Kelly (Milford, PA /Delaware Valley ) added 2 goals for the Spartans.

"We were a little slow out the gate, but once we got our rhythm we were fine," commented Head Coach Scott Cullen, "we pulled back a little in the second half and worked on our passing and ball control."

The victory moved Northampton to 1-1-0 on the season, while Lackawanna falls to 0-2-0.

The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they travel to Raritan Valley Community College to face the Lions at 3:30pm.
