NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Northampton Volleyball team claimed their 6th consecutive Region XIX Championship on Saturday afternoon, downing Raritan Valley Community College in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, at Bucks County Community College. The win was the 91st consecutive victory for the Spartans over a Region XIX Division III opponent, a streak that dates back to October 22, 2011.
Alysce Molchan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 31 assists in the title match and Tournament MVP
Katrina Shelly (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield ) recorded 11 kills and 11 digs as the Spartans improved to 24-4 overall.Â
Taylor Womack (Effort, PA/Pocono Mt. East ) and
Emily Petrat (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom ) each had 5 kills, 1 block and 1 ace and All Tournament selection
Laura Sweger (Elizabethville, PA/Upper Dauphin)Â recorded 7 kills and 2 blocks.Â

"We knew Raritan was ready for us," commented first year Head Coach
Lauren Kerr, "we had heard alot about them (RVCC) all season, so we knew we had to be prepared and ready to play. I was really proud of the effort and enthusiasm today ... now we need a good week of practice to prepare for a very good Sandhills team."
The Spartans downed Bergen Community College 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the title match, winning 25-17, 27-25, 25-13.Â

The NJCAA District Championship is set for Saturday October 28th at 12pm vs. Sandhills Community College (NC). The winner advances to the NJCAA National Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota.Â
