TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Northampton women's soccer team dropped a Region XIX crossover match-up on Friday afternoon, falling 3-1 to the Vikings of Ocean County College.
The Vikings got on the board early and held a 1-0 advantage through halftime, before tacking on a second goal in the 56th minute and an insurance tally in the 65th minute.
Amanda Sroka (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) scored for the Spartans with 7 minutes remaining in the contest off an assist from
Mikayla Garzillo (Bangor, PA/Bangor).
Melissa Schnappauf (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) recorded 8 saves for Northampton, as the Vikings outshot the Spartans 9 to 7.
The loss drops Northampton to 7-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in Region XIX.
Ocean improves to 6-5-0 overall and 5-3-0 in Region XIX.
The Spartans are off until October 10th when they host Manor College at 3:30pm.
A victory over the Blue Jays would clinch at least a tie for the inaugural EPAC Championship.
