BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton softball team ran their winning streak to 8 games with a doubleheader sweep of Montgomery County Community College on Thursday afternoon, taking game one 9-0 and game two 13-2.
GAME ONE - The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, and that was all the runs that
Sierra Flurer (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth)Â would need as she earned the complete game shutout victory, allowing 3 hits and fanning 3.
Sydney Wright (Milford, DE/Sussex Technical (DE)) hit a 2-run homerun in the 4th inning to seal the 9-0 victory. Â
Miranda Youngkin (Easton, PA/Easton) finished 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored,
Samantha Santucci (Springfield, NJ/J. Dayton High (NJ))Â and
Erin Happel (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) each went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.Â
GAME TWO - In the second game, the Spartans scored 10 runs in the 3rd inning, led by a
Sierra Flurer (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) homerun. Â Flurer finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Santucci was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI,
Courtney Maffia (Easton, PA/Easton ) was 2 for 2 and Youngkin finished 4 for 4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases as Northampton prevailed 13-2.Â
The Spartans improve to 11-11 overall, 6-4 in Region XIX and 2-0 in the EPAC.Â
Montgomery falls to 4-6 overall, 3-6 in Region and 2-2 in conference.Â
Northampton travels to Toms River, NJ on Saturday to face Ocean County College in a doubleheader scheduled to start at noon.Â
