BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Head Coach
Scott Cullen has released the 2017 schedule for his Northampton women's soccer team, which includes a season-opening trip to Lake Placid, NY. The Spartans, coming off a 5-6-1 season in their second year of varsity competition, will play a 17 game regular season.
Northampton will open the 2017 campaign with a trip to Lake Placid, NY where they will face Clinton Community College on Friday August 25th at 6:30pm and North Country Community College on Sunday August 27th at noon. The Spartans will spend Saturday touring the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, "We are very excited about the trip," remarked Cullen, "the team did a good job raising money last year to make this happen ... it's a great opportunity to get away and allow the team a chance to bond and hopefully come together for a successful season."
The Spartans will open the home portion of their schedule on August 31st when they host Lehigh Valley rival Lehigh Carbon Community College, followed by a trip to Montgomery on September 5th. Northampton will host national-power Brookdale Community College on September 7th, followed by a trip to Manor College on the 12th before returning home to host Division I Lackawanna College on September 14th.
After matches at Bucks on September 19th and Middlesex on September 21st the Spartans will host NJCAA national tournament participant RCGC on September 23rd. Northampton will then travel to Schnecksville on September 26th, host Montgomery on September 28th and then travel to Division I power Sussex County Community College on October 3rd.
The ladies will round out the regular season at Ocean County College on October 6th, hosting Manor College on October 10th, traveling to Scranton on October 12th to face Lackawanna and finishing out the regular season with Sophomore-Day on October 17th vs. Bucks County Community College.
Cullen (10-23-1 overall) and the Spartans will look to make the postseason for the first time in program history in their third season of varsity competition.
