BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Eight different Spartans scored at least one goal as the Northampton Women's Soccer team cruised to an 11-1 victory over Lackawanna College on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field.
Megan McCarty (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl ) got things started, getting Northampton's first goal at the 24 minute mark of the first half.
Amanda Sroka (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) added two more goals to give the Spartans a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
The floodgates opened in the second half as
Jessica Trout (Bangor, PA/Faith Christian ) scored 3 goals and
Mikayla Garzillo (Bangor, PA/Bangor),
Wendy Ordonez (Reading, PA/Reading ),
Kelsie Smith (Bangor, PA/Bangor),
Natalie Bonneau (Pocono Mt., PA/Pocono Mt. East ) and
Megan Corby (Bangor, PA/Bangor) each scored one goal as Northampton put 8 goals on the board in the last 45 minutes of action.
Samantha Borrell (Brodheadsville, PA /Faith Christian ) finished with 2 assists and goalkeeper
Melissa Schnappauf (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) was credited with 1 save.
The Spartans, now 5-0-1, outshot the Falcons 33 to 3.
Lackawanna falls to 0-3-0.
Northampton is now off until Tuesday September 19th when they travel to Bucks County Community College.
Abby Dempsey (Bangor, PA/Faith Christian ), who leads Region XIX in goals, did not play in the contest.
