NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Northampton women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to down Bucks County Community College 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Centurion Park.
Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Spartans got on the board in the 59th minute as
Mikayla Garzillo (Bangor, PA/Bangor) scored off an assist from
Abby Dempsey (Bangor, PA/Faith Christian ) to cut the margin to 2-1.
Nine minutes later Dempsey and Garzillo reversed roles with Dempsey scoring the tying goal from the top of the box off a pass from Garzillo.
Dempsey scored her 2nd goal of the game, unassisted, in the 81st minute to give Northampton its first lead at 3-2.
Dempsey closed the scoring with her 3rd of the game, and 14th of the season, with just over 2 minutes remaining to seal the 4-2 victory.
Melissa Schnappauf (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) recorded 3 saves as the Spartans outshot the Centurions 8 to 5.
Northampton, which received votes in the NJCAA national poll on Tuesday for the first time in program history, improves to 6-0-1.
Bucks falls to 4-4-0.
The Spartans travel to Edison, NJ on Thursday to face Middlesex County College at 3:30pm
