EDISON, NJ - The Northampton Women's Soccer team dropped their first game of the season on Thursday afternoon, falling 4-2 to Middlesex County College.
The Colts jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but
Abby Dempsey (Bangor, PA/Faith Christian ) connected on a direct kick from 30 yards out to make it 2-1 at halftime.
Middlesex scored early in the 2nd half to make it 3-1, but Dempsey answered at the 54 minute mark with her 16th goal of the season (4th in the nation) to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Amanda Sroka (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) was credited with the assist.
The Colts once again answered, scoring their 4th goal, to seal the victory.
Middlesex outshot Northampton 9 to 5, with Spartan goalkeeper
Melissa Schnappauf (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) making 5 saves.
The Spartans, now 6-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in Region XIX, return to action on Saturday when they host 5th ranked RCGC at noon.
Middlesex improves to 1-4-0 overall and 1-2 in Region XIX.
