JENKINTOWN, Pa. - Freshman
Hannah Seltzer (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley) broke the single-season school record for goals as the Northampton women's soccer team downed Manor College, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Seltzer, who entered the game needing one goal to tie
Abby Dempsey (Bangor, PA/Faith Christian ) for the single-season mark (16), scored all four of Northampton's goals, putting her all alone at the top of the record book with 19 goals in a season.
Seltzer got the Spartans on the board, breaking a 0-0 deadlock, just before the half to give Northampton a 1-0 advantage.
Seltzer then added a hat-trick in the second half, scoring at the 46, 55 and 65 minute marks.
Contessa Rivera (Dover, DE/Dover Senior High (DE)) and
Megan McCarty (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) each had two assists and
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA/Bangor) made two stops to earn the shutout.
The Spartans, now 6-7-0 overall, must defeat Montgomery County Community College on Monday to qualify for the Region XIX postseason.
Game time is set for 3:30pm at Spartan Field.
