Women's Soccer Qualifies for Region XIX Postseason

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - It wasn't exactly the script that they had hoped for, but in the end the Northampton women's soccer got the result they wanted ... a birth in the Region XIX playoffs.

After multiple reschedules attempts and weather delays, Northampton and Montgomery County Community College were set to do battle on Monday at 3:30pm, with the Spartans facing a "win you're in ... lose you're out" scenario. However, the Mustangs could not field a team on Monday, thus forcing them to declare the game a no contest and providing the Spartans a win for seeding purposes and getting them to the hallowed .500 mark needed for postseason play at 7-7-0.

"Obviously not how we wanted to get in," commented Head Coach Erik Daly, "but we will take advantage of the opportunity and see what we can do with it.  The girls are looking forward to the postseason, and hopefully we can make some noise."

The Spartans will find out their opponent on Wednesday October 17th when the Region XIX Tournament seeding is announced.  Their opening round game will be on Saturday, most likely on the road.

Northampton, which is just in its 5th season of competition, has now qualified for the postseason in back-to-back years.
