SYRACUSE, NY - The Northampton women's volleyball split their opening day matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament, falling to Broome Community College 2-0 in the best of three match, then rallying top host Onondaga Community College 2-1.
Match One vs. Broome Community College (Lost 2-0)
The Broome Hornets overcame a 17-15 deficit in game one of their best of three match vs. Northampton, winning 25-20 and then dominated the second match, winning 25-11.
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 7 kills and 16 digs,
Samantha Hatfield (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded 7 kills and
Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) was credited with 14 digs for the Spartans.
Match Two vs. Onondaga Community College (Won 2-1)
The host Lazers took the first set 25-20, but the Spartans rallied to to win the second set 26-24 and then took the deciding game 15-12 to earn the victory.
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 8 kills and 10 digs,
Savanna Jordan (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) posted 19 assists and 10 digs,
Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 2 kills, 4 aces and 13 digs and
Caisey Kroschwitz (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) tallied 16 digs for Northampton.
The Spartans, 9-4 overall, will face Cayuga Community College on Saturday morning at 11:15am in Day Two of the Cara Bryant Memorial.
