Women's Soccer Battles Bucks County, Before Falling 3-0

NEWTOWN, PA - The Northampton women's soccer team battled Bucks County Community College for 90 minutes on Tuesday at Centurion Park, before falling 3-0.

The Spartans and Centurions were scoreless for the first 42 minutes of the game, until a Bucks shot deflected off a Northampton defender into the net, giving the Centurions a 1-0 halftime lead.

The game remained 1-0 until the 75 minute mark when Bucks found the back of the net to make it 2-0 and then added an insurance goal 2 minutes later to make the final 3-0.

Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA/Bangor) make 18 saves for Northampton, keeping the Spartans in the game with a number of diving stops.

"I can't say enough about the effort today," stated Head Coach Erik Daly, "I am so proud of these girls ... less than a month ago this team beat us 9-0 on our field and today we battled them for 90 minutes.  I realize it is still a loss, but our level our play has improved tremendously, as Bucks is a legitimate contender in Region XIX."

The loss drops Northampton to 5-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in Region XIX, while Bucks improves to 11-2-0 overall and 8-2-0 in the Region.

The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they host Montgomery County Community College at 3:30pm.
