BLACKWOOD, NJ - The Northampton Softball team was officially eliminated from postseason consideration with a doubleheader loss to Camden County College on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars swept the Region XIX twinbill, taking game one 11-0 and game two 10-0.
Kailee Dube (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley ),
Sarah Sampson (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) and
Ethel Asamel (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive (NJ)) each went 1 for 2 in game one to lead Northampton.
In game two,
Laura Sweger (Elizabethville, PA/Upper Dauphin) returned to action after a two-week absence and struck out 4 Dukes, allowing 6 earned runs in the loss.
Dube, Sampson and Asamel each went 1 for 2 again, while
Madison Ensley (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) added a hit and made an outstanding diving catch in the outfield to lead the Spartans.
The doubleheader loss puts Northampton at 0-12 overall and 0-8 in Region XIX, while Camden improves to 10-13 overall and 9-5 in the Region.
The Spartans were scheduled to host Middlesex County College on Sunday at noon, but that doubleheader has been cancelled.
Northampton will be back in action on Tuesday when they host NJCAA Division II Lackawanna College at 4:00pm.
