BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton softball team dropped a Region XIX doubleheader to nationally-ranked Brookdale Community College on Saturday afternoon, falling 16-2 and 10-0, in their opening home series.
GAME ONE - Lost 16-2
Sydney Wright (Milford, DE/Sussex Tech (DE)) was 2 for 3 and
Kailee Dube (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley ) and
Samantha Santucci (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton (NJ)) each had one RBI as the Spartans fell to the 10th ranked Jersey Blues.
Madison Ensley (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and
Cynthia Perez (Allentown, PA/Dieruff) each scored for Northampton.
GAME TWO - Lost 10-0
In the second game, Santucci and
Arianna Loebsack (Easton, PA/Easton) each finished 1 for 2 at the plate to pace the offense.
Lauren Mills (Northampton, PA/Northampton) took the loss on the mound, allowing 6 earned runs.

Jen Denaro praised the play of
Madison Ensley (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) in centerfield, stating, "Madison made some really good plays in center, she is able to cover alot of ground and was able to take away a couple potential extra base hits."
The sweep drops the Spartans to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in Region XIX.
Brookdale improved to 11-9 overall.
The Spartans are back at it on Sunday, hosting Cumberland County College at noon in a Region XIX Doubleheader.
