Women's Soccer Drops Conference Contest to Bucks

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The injury-depleted Northampton women's soccer team fell behind early and were never were able to get any momentum in falling to Bucks, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Field.

Bucks scored just 30 seconds into the game and never looked back, earning their 3rd victory of the season.

Angelique Herrera (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) and Aliyah Flora (Bethlehem, PA/Nazareth) split time in the goal for Northampton in place of injured goalkeeper Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA/Bangor), while a number of other players were forced to play out of position to overcome some holes in the lineup.

"Tough day," remarked Head Coach Erik Daly, "obviously Bucks is very talented, but heading into a game without our starting goalkeeper and center midfielder, really put us at a disadvantage.  The girls we had today really played hard and fought for all 90 minutes, but Bucks was just too strong up front for us.  We will regroup and get back after it on Thursday at Montgomery."

The Spartans, now 2-2-0 on the season, travel to Blue Bell, Pa. on Thursday to face the Mustangs at 3:30pm.
