SCRANTON, Pa. - The Northampton women's soccer team dropped their first game of the 2019 season, falling 3-2 to NJCAA Division I member Lackawanna College on Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons got on the board first, as Rachel Appsley scored off an assist from Ashley Brune at the 33 minute mark.
The Spartans were able to tie things up 7 minutes later when
Zulemy Rosario (Allentown, PA /William Allen ) scored off a corner kick from
Danielle Besser (Long Pond, PA/Pocono Mt. West ).
Besser gave Northampton the lead at the 61 minute mark with an unassisted tally to make the score 2-1.

Lackawanna's Alexa Smith then scored the first of her two goals, tying the game at the 75 minute mark and then scoring what proved to be the game winner 8 minutes later.
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA /Bangor ) made 13 saves for the Spartans, who fall to 4-1-0 overall.
Lackawanna improves to 2-1-0 overall.
The Spartans, who remain undefeated in Region and Conference play, travel to Manor College on September 24th to face the Blue Jays at 3:30pm.
