MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton Baseball team extended their win streak to 6 games with two victories on Thursday, downing Westmoreland Community College (PA) 15-4 and Bay College (MI) 10-0. The Spartans finish their spring trip with an 8-2 record.
Game One vs. WESTMORELAND (Won 15-4)
A huge 2nd inning propelled Northampton over Westmoreland in game one on Thursday, as the Spartans plated 9 runs in the second and dispatched the Wolfpack in 5 innings with a 15-4 victory.
Luke Spencer (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman) finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and
Garrett Garofalo (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI as the Spartans pounded out 15 hits.
Tylar Patrick (Barrie, ON - Canada/) picked up the win on the mound, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, striking out 5 and walking 4.
Jake Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown Area ) finished off the contest, with 1.1 innings of action, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 K's.
Game Two vs. BAY COLLEGE (Won 10-0)
David Baltrusaitis (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) smashed a 2-run homerun into the darkness in the bottom of the 6th to give Northampton a 10-0 walk-off victory over Bay College in the final game of their spring trip. Baltrusaitis finished 1 for 1 with a walk, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) had a 2 for 3 performance as the Spartans finished with 9 hits on the evening.
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) earned the complete game shut-out, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 10 and walking 5.
The Spartans return to Bethlehem on Friday and are scheduled for their home opener on Saturday March 19th when they host nationally-ranked Herkimer College.
