EASTON, Pa. - The 10th ranked Northampton Baseball team swept Bucks County Community College in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, taking game one 10-3 and the nightcap 8-4, at Lou Cecala Field at Notre Dame - Green Pond High School.
Game One - Northampton 10 | Bucks 3
In game one, the Spartans rode the right arm of
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) to a 10-3 victory. The right-hander threw 6 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 1 hit, striking out 4 and walking 8.
Jake Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown Area ) finished off the 7th inning, facing 3 batters, allowing no runs and no hits, fanning one.
Luke Spencer (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman) and
Michael Wambold (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) keyed the offense, each going 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) finished 3 for 3, while
Josh Herman (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) added 2 hits.
Spencer's line-drive single in the 5th plated two runs to put the game out of reach.
Game Two - Northampton 8 | Bucks 4
In game two, the Spartans jumped out to an 8-1 lead and then coasted to the 8-4 victory. Starter
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) earned the victory, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits over 3.1 innings.
Tyler Sharayko (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown Area) pitched the final 3.2 innings, striking out 4, while only allowing 1 hit.
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) added 2 more hits, finishing 5 for 7 in the twinbill.
Ryan Santangelo (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 walks.
The sweep moves Northampton to 20-4 overall on the season and 18-0 all-time vs. Bucks.
The Spartans now hit the road for a 5-game road trip, starting in Edison, NJ on Tuesday, where they are set to face Middlesex College in a single 9-inning game at 3:30pm.
