HARRISBURG, PA - The Northampton men's soccer team opened the 2022 campaign with a dominating 12-1 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Thursday afternoon at HACC Stadium.
Northampton jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead and then cruised to the 11-goal victory, with
Drake Brackett (West Easton, PA/Wilson) earning the victory in goal. Brackett recorded one save on the day, allowing only a penalty kick by the Hawks.
Hatungimana Salem (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), last year's EPAC Player of the Year, scored 2 goals and recorded 1 assist,
Sohaib Aglaguel (Casablanca, Morocco/Moulay Idriss) added 3 goals and 1 assist and
Gabe Lawler (Bangor, PA/Bangor) registered 3 assists, as nine Spartans found the back of the net.
"We started out fast and were able to dominate the time of possession," commented 4th year head coach
Mario Barrantes, "we were able to control Harrisburg's attack and really dictate the action most of the game. Our second unit guys did a great job in the second half keeping the ball moving and working in space."
Northampton, now 1-0-0, will host Penn St. - Lehigh Valley on Saturday at 12pm in their home opener.
