Tennis Suffers First Loss in Three Years

MEDIA, Pa. - April 22, 2010 ... that was the last time the Northampton tennis team had lost a match ... until April 22, 2013.  Three years to the day, Delaware County Community College snapped the impressive win streak with a 4-3 victory.

Northampton, which defeated Delaware, 4-3, earlier in the season, dropped the doubles point, as Nicole Sharga and Ashley Gildner fell to Cassidy Branigan and April Phillips 8-4.  Sam Spencer and Kaman Chu defeated Kyle Manley and Geoff Hart, while Raidy Alvarez and Joel Aranda were victorious in their match.

The singles matches played out exactly as they did in the first matchup, with Spencer downing Manley 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, Chu topping Alvarez 6-3, 6-3, Hart won a point for NCC by defeating Nick Sworbo 6-1, 6-4 and Joel Aranda handled Sedrix Yera 6-0, 6-2.

On the women's side, Sharga fell to Branigan 6-1, 6-1, while Gildner defeated Phillips 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6).

Geoff Hart and Joel Aranda finished the dual meeting season undefeated at the #3 and #4 singles positions and Raidy Alvarez and Aranda were undefeated at #2 doubles.
