Ba Scores School Record 5 Goals as Spartans Down Lehigh Carbon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Baidy Ba (Bethlehem, PA /Freedom ) scored a single-game school record 5 goals as the Northampton men's soccer team downed EPAC rival Lehigh Carbon Community College 11-1 on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Field.

The 11 goals were a single-game record for Northampton, topping the previous mark of 10 which was set just nine days ago vs. Valley Forge Military College. "We thought our offense was going to be pretty good this season," explained Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we still have a long way to go, but we are making positive steps in the right direction and moving forward as a program."

Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) added 3 goals and 1 assist, Sam Gaye (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) had a goal and an assist, Cesar Hernandez (East Stroudsburg, PA /Stroudsburg) had 1 goal and 2 assists, Majed Salama (Allentown, PA /Catasauqua) had a goal and Aaron Timbe (Elgin, IL/Larkin (IL)) recorded an assist as Northampton put 28 shots on goal.

Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA /Liberty ) recorded the victory between the pipes, notching 6 saves and the defense, behind Robert Bradford (Bethlehem, PA /Northampton ), played their most complete game of the season, limiting LCCC to only 7 shots.

Northampton improves to 3-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Region XIX, while Lehigh Carbon falls to 2-5-0 overall and 1-5-0 in Region XIX.

Northampton travels to Harrisburg on Saturday to face the Hawks at 2pm. The game will be played on the main campus at Harrisburg Area Community College.
