BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's and women's basketball teams will tip-off their 2019-20 seasons on Friday night as they travel to Dryden, NY to face Tompkins-Cortland Community College on the opening night of NJCAA Basketball season.
The women, under 3rd year Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger (24-23), return five players from last years 7-14 squad.
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South),
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA/Bangor),
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)),
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) and
Jayda Webster (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) all return along with a strong incoming class of newcomers.
Brennan McCarthy (87-53) returns for his 6th season as the Head Coach of the Spartans, fresh off a 21-9 campaign that saw Northampton claim their second EPAC Championship under McCarthy, and third overall. The Spartans were nationally-ranked throughout the season and earned votes in the 2019-20 NJCAA Division III preseason poll.
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg),
Raylil Law-Winton (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) and
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) top the returners, while transfer
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) leads a strong group of newcomers.
