SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team jumped out of the gate early, dominating the first 20 minutes of play, and then held off the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College for 4-2 victory on Saturday at Cougar Field.
Jean-Claude Pabulo (Allentown, PA/William Allen ) recorded a hat-trick and
Andrew Seymour (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) added a goal as the Spartans picked up their second consecutive victory.
Mehmed Letifov (Wind Gap, PA /Pen Argyl) had 2 assists, while
Stivan Kumbarov (Wind Gap, PA /Pen Argyl) and
David Trout (Saylorsburg, PA /Faith Christian ) each recorded one.
Nick Mazzella (Bangor, PA /Bangor ) made 15 saves between the pipes to earn the win.
"We got a little out of synch after grabbing that big early lead," commented Head Coach
Mario Barrantes, "but I thought we were a little more disciplined in the second half, despite how physical the game got."
Northampton improves to 3-2-0 overall, 2-2-0 in Region XIX and 2-1-0 in the EPAC.
LCCC falls to 2-5-0 overall. .
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Delaware County Community College (2-3-1) to face the Phantoms at 3:30pm.
