MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton softball team fell to 0-4 on the season with a pair of losses on Monday in South Carolina, falling to NJCAA Division I Olney College 8-0, then dropping a heart-breaker to Lincoln College 10-9 in the nightcap.
Game One vs. OLNEY COLLEGE (Lost 0-8)
Freshman
Siera Klingle (East Bangor, PA/Bangor) took the loss in game one vs. Olney College, allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits over 4 innings of work, striking out 4 and walking 1.
The Spartans were not able to muster any offense, being no-hit by the Blue Knights.
Game Two vs. LINCOLN COLLEGE JV (Lost 9-10)
The Spartans dropped a heart-breaker in their second game of the day, falling 10-9 to Lincoln College JV.
Northampton led 9-5 entering the 7th inning, only to see the Lynx score 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th to snare the come from behind victory.
Regina Bangcoro (Easton, PA /Easton) finished 4 for 5 at the plate with 3 runs scored, while
Bridget Pavelko (Bethlehem, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI to pace the Spartan offense.
Bangcoro took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 7 and walking 6.
The Spartans, 0-4, return to action on Tuesday when they face CCRI at 5:30pm.
