MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton softball team earned their first win of the season with a 14-10 victory over the Community College of Rhode Island on Tuesday evening.
Regina Bangcoro (Easton, PA /Easton) drove in 3 runs and finished 2 for 4 at the plate with a homerun as the Spartans pounded out 14 hits in the win.
Bangcoro also earned the save in the circle, coming on in relief of
Siera Klingle (East Bangor, PA/Bangor). Bangcoro went the final 2.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned), striking out 5 and walking none. Klingle, who worked 4.1 innings, allowing 6 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2, earned the win.
Madelyn Ott (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and
Bridget Pavelko (Bethlehem, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) was 2 for 4 with a RBI and a walk.
Northampton, which moves to 1-4 on the season, is back in action on Wednesday at 3:30pm vs. USC Sumter and 5:30pm vs. CCRI.
