Dr. Arthur L. Scott, NCC’s President from 2003 to June 2012 Served the College for over 35 years prior to his retirement in the summer of 2012.

As President, Dr. Scott focused on leading a caring, fast-paced, high-performing institution around a strategic vision of access, engagement and excellence.  Credit enrollment increased by 50% while Scott was President.

In support of educational access, Scott championed opening a center on the south side of Bethlehem.  The Fowler Family Southside Center opened in 2006, Original projections called for 5,000 students to be served within five years, that number was nearly exceeded in the first year.

Also in support of educational access, the College, under Scott’s leadership broke ground last year for full-service branch campus in Monroe County.  The 72 acre facility will serve more than 2,500 credit students.

Other achievements during Scott’s tenure include the extension of the Articles of Agreement between the College and its sponsoring school districts, the creation of the President’s leadership institute to develop future college leaders and the successful completion of a more than $14 million capital campaign.

Athletically, Dr. Scott oversaw the opening of the Spartan Center, (which was recently renamed in his honor) and played a critical role in the transition from the EPCC to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  During Scott’s tenure 43 student-athletes were named All-Region, seven earned Academic All-American Honors and six were tabbed as NJCAA All-Americans.  NCC had four teams earn National top-10 rankings, including the women’s basketball team which captured the 2012 Region XIX championship and finished 6th in the Country.
