Kim Colyer-Williams battled through adversity to become arguably one of the greatest women’s basketball players to come out of NCC. After tearing her ACL during her first season, Colyer-Williams sat out the entire year and kept stats for both men’s and women’s teams and was rewarded with the Charles H. Groman Award for spirit, dedication, and courage.
Â
Colyer-Williams returned to the court during the 1986-87 season and helped lead the Spartans to a 19-6 record and a 3rd place finish in the EPCC Tournament.
Â
The 1987-88 season was a memorable one for Colyer-Williams and NCC as they finished 27-1, captured the EPCC championship and won their first-ever PCAA State Title with a 60-47 victory over CCAC-Allegheny. Colyer-Williams earned EPCC All-Conference Honors, PCAA All-State accolades and was a 4-time Athlete of the Week honoree.
Â
Colyer-Williams’ name is still in the NCC record book, she is the 7th leading scorer in school history (617 points) and ranks 5th in rebounding (429).
Â
Following her career at NCC, Colyer-Williams received a full athletic scholarship to Division I Long Island University, where she played for two seasons and served as tri-captain during the 1989-90 season.
Â
Currently, Colyer-Williams is the Sr. Technical Recruiter for Government Contractor at Northrop Grumman Corporation. Colyer-Williams currently lives in Upper Black Eddy, PA with her husband Randy and daughter Trinity.
