Head Coach of both the men's and women's basketball teams at Northampton, Jeff Thatcher made history when he captured two Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association championships on the same day, as the women defeated the Community College of Allegheny County 60-47 in the afternoon and the men edged CCAC 61-60 in the final seconds, later that evening.
Coach Thatcher compiled a 65-27 record with the men's program and a 65-14 mark with the women during his three-year tenure.
Coach Thatcher recalls the double state championship as, "an afternoon to remember and cherish."
Coach Thatcher left NCC to serve as an assistant women's basketball coach at American University in 1988-89. A year later he was named Head Coach, a position he held until 2000. Among the highlights of his tenure at American is the 1997-98 season when the Eagles went 23-6 and Thatcher was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year.
