Arguably the greatest volleyball player in Northampton Community College history, Colleen Irelan led NCC to the 1979 EPCC championship.  The team finished with an 18-4 record after falling to PSU-Altoona in the PCAA state championship game.

A two-time First Team All-Conference and All-Tournament Selection in 1979 and 1980, Irlean guided the Spartans to a 13-11 mark during her sophomore campaign, after which she was named NCC’s Female Athlete of the Year.

After NCC, Irelan transferred to NCAA Division III Juniata College, where she led the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament, earning all-Tournament honors and becoming Juniata’s first-ever NCAA volleyball All-American.

A two-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference Selection in volleyball, Irelan was inducted into the Juniata College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.

In addition to her exploits on the volleyball court, Irelan also excelled on the softball field, earning first team All-Conference accolades at NCC after the 1981 season and then being named Team MVP at Juniata where she batted .483 during the 1983 campaign.

A Freedom High School Graduate, Irelan received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Juniata.
