Tyler Melko, a graduate of Cowanesque Valley High School, took the Baseball program to new heights during his time as a Spartan, leading the program to back-to-back trips to the NJCAA World Series and the 2018 Region 19 championship. The Spartans finished 5th in the NJCAA both seasons.
Melko’s name is littered all over the baseball record book, as he holds the career mark for hits in a season with 87 and RBI with 78, both during the 2018 season. Melko also sits 4th all-time in career batting average (.407), 2nd in career hits (142) and 2nd in career RBI (116). His 14 career home runs rank 6th all-time for the Spartans.
An NJCAA First Team All-American in 2018 and also the Alumni Association Outstanding Athlete honoree, Melko earned his Criminal Justice degree at Northampton and continued his academic and playing career at NCAA Division II Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut and then finished his playing career at NCAA Division II Mansfield University, where he earned 1st Team All-PSAC honors.
Tyler, who is currently employed with Eastern BHE GT&S, would like to recognize his family and thank them for their support over the years: his parents, Debra and John Melko, along with his wife, Kayla, and daughter, Quinn.
